3rd and 4th Grades
3rd grade: We were finding out if Brother John was sleeping and learning to sing rounds. We also had some fun with teamwork to create our own lyrics for the tune. We are learning the school theme song for the year, Confidence, and adding appropriate dances moves to it, thanks to the creative effort of our 2nd and 3rd grade classes.
4th grade:We are discovering the relationship between music and math ( note values).
3rd graders are learning about commands and other common expressions.
4th graders are studying numbers and rooms in a house.
Students in 2nd grade thru 8th grade have been actively participating in various forms of Capture the Flag (outside) and Fort Knox. Students work on their dodging and fleeing skills a well as learn about offensive and defensive strategies.
Students are finishing up books for their Ar points as we near the end of the quarter. Our "wish list" for books students request is growing! Now, if we had room for all those books.
3rd graders have been measuring with cups, tablespoons, along with reading a recipe. They are also practicing writing a part of a set as a fraction.
4th graders are working on patterns and expressions.
Art - 4th and 5th graders painted rocks. They each got 2 rocks to paint, one to keep and one to hide. Maybe you will find one.
Religion - learning how Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to guide us. This is called Pentecost and marks the beginning of the church.
Social - Both 3rd and 4th grade classes are learning how to use a timeline, and reading about The First Americans.
Science - We have been busy doing STEM projects. 3rd and 4th graders made "bone bridges" from Q-tips and pipe cleaners.
